DIRECTING
I direct new plays, classics and musicals, as well as devised and ensemble-generated work. I participated in the DirectorsLabChicago and have received the MTC Jonathan Alper and Drama League Fellowships and a Directing Residency from Playwrights Horizons. My work has been seen at New York venues including 59E59, Theatre Row, the Abingdon, Canal Park Playhouse, Joe's Pub, and the Kraine, among others.  As an assistant director, I have worked on and off-Broadway (the Public, Encores!, Lincoln Center, MTC, Primary Stages and Playwrights Horizons), as well as regionally (PlayMakers Rep and four productions at Chicago Shakespeare Theatre). I was in the inaugural Civilians' R&D Group and I am currently a member of the Soho Rep Writer/Director Lab. For a complete listing of my directing experience, click here.

WRITING / SOLO PERFORMANCE
Besides directing, I am a writer and solo performer.  Recently, I have been published in HowlRound, the Studio 42 blog, and American Theatre magazine.  My newest solo play RAOUL WALLENBERG: LETTERS FROM YOUNG MEN premiered at the Swedish American Museum in Chicago, under commission from the Museum and the American Jewish Artists Club.  For more info, visit the Raoul page.

DIRECTOR of CORE COMPANY at the ORCHARD PROJECT
Core Company is the Orchard Project's innovative apprentice program for multidisciplinary theatre artists under 26.  Every summer, we invite 11 of the county's most exciting young theatre makers to the Catskills for a summer of training, professional placements, and creative opportunity. It's unlike anything else out there. For more information and applications for the 2012 Core Company, visit: Core.OrchardProject.com.

INTERNATIONAL WORK
Starting with a semester in Prague collecting oral histories of returned Czech exiles, (which became production research for Vaclav Havel's THREE VANEK PLAYS), much of my theatre work has had involved international collaboration. I was a Fulbright guest artist at Budapest's Vígszínház (Comedy Theatre), a Henry Luce Scholar at the Ho Chi Minh City College of Stage and Cinema, and I have presented work at the Edinburgh and Montreal Fringe Festivals, and the Camden People's Theatre in London. I have interned for the International Theatre Institute in Hungary (where I collaborated on the book A SHABBY PARADISE: CONTEMPORARY HUNGARIAN THEATRE) and in Paris at its UNESCO headquarters. I was the  International Programs intern at TCG / ITI-US, and part of the inaugural TS Eliot US/UK Exchange with Old Vic / New Voices.

TEACHING ARTIST / COACH
Teaching is a major part of my creative life. I'm proud to have spent seven summers on the faculty of Northwestern's Cherubs program, where I directed many new plays and original adaptations for young actors, while teaching Acting and Performance Theory.  I have also guest directed or led workshops for NYU Graduate Acting, Atlantic Acting Conservatory, UNC Professional Actor Training Program, Long Island University, Keen Teens, the Theatre of the Oppressed Conference, and with Cambodia's Phnom Penh Players.  I am currently a teaching artist with Center for Arts in Education in New York, and I volunteer with the Castillo Theatre / All-Stars Project. I am also available for private audition coaching for plays, musical theatre and graduate programs.  Please contact me here.

RESIDENT ARTIST of STUDIO 42
Studio 42 is an off-off-Broadway production company that does un-producable plays. I directed the 2009 production of GAUGLEPRIXTOWN and recent readings/workshops of MISS LILLY GETS BONED, HOOKMAN, PORT TWILIGHT and REYKJAVIK. Check us out at: Stu42.com.
